Tunisia advances investment drive and ZLECAf integration in Bizerte

Tunisia is intensifying efforts to make the Bizerte region more attractive for investors. Conect Bizerte, led by Lotfi Sahli, hosted a debate on June 18 2026 at the El Andalucia hotel, bringing together public officials, business leaders and bank representatives. The event outlined opportunities in industry, logistics, blue‑economy, agriculture, tourism and digital services, and examined ways to streamline procedures, create a single point of contact for investors and boost financing mechanisms.

At the same time, Tunisian trade officials highlighted the country's role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECAf). Minister of Trade Samir Abid and ZLECAf secretary‑general Wamkele Keabetswe Mene called for improved infrastructure, regulatory reforms, better coordination and digital tools to overcome implementation challenges. The private sector was urged to engage actively, with a public‑private dialogue set up to ensure the agreement benefits African firms and supports regional integration.
