Tunisia and Belgium seek to expand economic and strategic cooperation

Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti met with the new Belgian Ambassador to Tunisia, Jan De Pauw, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties and increasing economic investment. Tunisia aims to expand the existing Belgian economic presence, which currently includes 222 investments and over 19,200 jobs.

Discussions focused on several key areas, including trade, higher education, culture, and tourism. A Walloon economic mission is scheduled for December 2026, with a specific interest in sectors such as water, renewable energy, energy efficiency, storage, waste, and the environment.

Both parties also addressed human mobility, with Nafti calling for enhanced cooperation regarding skills, studies, and professional pathways. Ambassador De Pauw expressed Belgium's commitment to deepening this cooperation and elevating the relationship to a strategic partnership.
