Tunisia and India launch joint business forum to boost trade

Tunisia and India have launched new initiatives to strengthen economic ties and diversify commercial relations through the establishment of the Tunisia-India Joint Business Forum. Organized by Conect International, the Indian Embassy in Tunis, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the forum aims to create a permanent platform for business exchange and investment partnership.

Currently, bilateral trade between the two nations stands at approximately $521 million. Stakeholders have expressed an ambition to increase this figure to $1 billion in the coming years. The partnership seeks to leverage India’s expertise in agriculture, technology, renewable energy, and pharmaceuticals, alongside Tunisia’s strategic position as a gateway between Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean.

B2B meetings held during the forum focused on several key sectors, including information technology, digital services, automotive, textiles, and audiovisual industries. Aslan Berejeb, President of Conect, noted the need for Tunisia to adopt a new mindset to better engage with the Indian market, moving beyond traditional focus areas like Europe and the Middle East.
