Tunisia and Japan pledge to strengthen bilateral ties and investment

Tunisia and Japan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations during a meeting in Tunis between Tunisian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Mohamed Ben Ayed and Japanese Ambassador Saito Jun. The meeting coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Discussions focused on following up on commitments made during the visit of Tunisian Head of Government Sarra Zaâfrani Zenzri to Japan for the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in August 2025. Both parties emphasized the need to expand the legal framework governing their exchanges to attract more Japanese investment into Tunisia.

Additionally, the officials discussed preparing for upcoming bilateral meetings and maintaining coordination on multilateral cooperation issues.
