Tunisia and World Bank Group aim to accelerate development projects

Tunisia and the World Bank Group are working to strengthen cooperation and accelerate the implementation of development projects. This follows a meeting between Tunisia’s Minister of Economy and Planning, Samir Abdelhafidh, and Alex Kremer, the new Director of the World Bank Group office in Tunisia.

Discussions focused on intensifying coordination under the forthcoming Country Partnership Framework (CPF), which is currently being developed. The World Bank reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Tunisia in implementing economic and social reforms to meet development goals. Minister Abdelhafidh emphasized the need to diversify areas of cooperation and improve coordination to speed up the execution of Bank-funded projects.

Alex Kremer will oversee the activities of the World Bank Group institutions in Tunisia, including the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). The current CPF for Tunisia, covering 2023–2027, prioritizes quality job creation, human capital strengthening, climate resilience, and ecological transition.
