Tunisia appoints French coach Herve Ronar to replace Sabri Lemmouchi

The Tunisian Football Federation announced on 16 June 2026 that French manager Herve Ronar will take over the national team for the remainder of the 2026 World Cup, succeeding Sabri Lemmouchi after the side suffered a 5‑1 defeat to Sweden in its opening group match. Ronar will inherit a squad that now faces Japan in its second group game.

Ronar, who led Zambia to the 2012 African Cup of Nations title, Ivory Coast to the 2015 edition and guided Morocco to the 2018 World Cup, signed a short‑term deal with the same financial terms as his predecessor, with the federation indicating the possibility of a longer‑term contract after the tournament. A Tunisian media commentator mentioned the name of Moroccan FA president Fouzi Lqaq as a potential mediator in the coaching talks, but stressed his current commitments to the Moroccan national team make any involvement unlikely.
