Tunisia appoints Hervé Renard after sacking Sabri Lamouchi during World Cup
Tunisia's football federation (FTF) announced the dismissal of head coach Sabri Lamouchi during the 2026 World Cup after a 1‑5 defeat to Sweden in Monterrey. Lamouchi, hired in January 2024, had recorded only one win (1‑0 against Haiti) and a series of pre‑tournament losses.
Former French coach Hervé Renard, who most recently managed Saudi Arabia and previously guided Zambia and the Ivory Coast to Africa Cup titles, will take over for the remainder of the tournament. He is expected to arrive in Monterrey on Tuesday, with the federation quoting that “Renard will arrive in Monterrey on Tuesday to lead the first training session with the squad,” ahead of Tunisia's second group match against Japan.
