Tunisia names Hervé Renard coach after 5-1 World Cup defeat to Sweden
Tunisia's national football team dismissed head coach Sabri Lamouchi following a 5-1 loss to Sweden in the opening match of Group F at the 2026 World Cup. The Tunisian Football Federation appointed French manager Hervé Renard as the new coach, making him the first manager ever dismissed after a single World Cup match. Renard, who has previously led Zambia and Ivory Coast to African Cup victories and guided Saudi Arabia to a famous upset over Argentina in 2022, arrived at the team's base in Monterrey. In his first session he delivered a motivational address, urging players to regain confidence ahead of their next group match against Japan.
