Tunisia boosts climate‑resilient agriculture through FAO‑led workshop

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), together with Tunisia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, held a national workshop on 2‑3 July 2026 in Hammamet. The event presented findings from the Biorest project, which assesses the climate‑resilience of Tunisian farms using the Sharp+ tool that integrates socioeconomic, biophysical and biodiversity data.

Sharp+ was applied to more than 115 farms across all Tunisian governorates, revealing key strengths and vulnerabilities in soil management, water use, crop diversification and ecosystem services such as pollinators and soil microbes. The workshop discussed technical packages to improve agro‑ecological practices, enhance water efficiency and preserve functional biodiversity, aiming to sustain food security and farmer incomes under increasing climate stress.
