Tunisia dismisses coach Lamouchi, hires Hervé Renard after 1-5 World Cup loss
Following a 1-5 defeat to Sweden in the opening Group F match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Tunisian Football Federation removed Sabri Lamouchi as head coach. The federation announced the decision during a night meeting broadcast on national television and appointed French manager Hervé Renard as his successor. Renard previously guided Saudi Arabia to a surprise victory over Argentina at the 2022 World Cup and coached the French women’s national team.
Tunisia’s only goal in the loss was scored by Omar Rekik. The team’s next group‑stage opponents are Japan on 21 June and the Netherlands five days later.
