Tunisia dismisses coach Sabri Lamouchi after 1‑5 World Cup loss to Sweden
Tunisia's national football team suffered a 1‑5 defeat to Sweden in its opening group match of the 2026 World Cup in Monterrey, Mexico. The loss, the biggest defeat in Tunisia's World Cup history, prompted the Tunisian Football Federation to fire head coach Sabri Lamouchi with immediate effect. Lamouchi, a French‑Tunisian who took charge in January 2026 on a contract through 2028, had previously coached the Ivory Coast at the 2014 World Cup and clubs such as Nottingham Forest and Rennes. The federation named Mondher Kebaier, the former technical director and head coach of the national side from 2019‑2022, as his successor. Tunisia now faces crucial group games against the Netherlands and Japan as it seeks to revive its campaign.
