Tunisia: Economic hardship drives young citizens toward emigration
Young Tunisians are increasingly considering emigration due to persistent economic difficulties and a lack of meaningful social change. Many citizens report that rising cost-of-living pressures and mounting financial commitments, such as rent, loans, and education costs, have made it difficult to secure a stable future or even afford basic medical necessities.
Seven years into the presidency of Kais Saied, the population remains divided. While some citizens express frustration over unresolved demands for political freedoms and better living conditions, others continue to place their trust in the current administration. Despite the initial hope surrounding the 2019 election, many residents report that essential goods and services remain difficult to obtain and that daily life has seen little improvement.
