Tunisia expands foreign investment and international partnerships

Tunisia is experiencing a significant rise in foreign direct investment (FDI) and is actively seeking to diversify its international partnerships. According to Jalel Tebib, President of the Tunisia Investment Authority, FDI grew by 30% in 2025 compared to 2024. For the first seven months of 2026, investments reached approximately two billion dinars, with projections aiming for four billion dinars by the end of the year.

France remains a primary economic partner, accounting for roughly one-third of FDI inflows in 2025 and serving as the top destination for 23% of Tunisian exports. Meanwhile, China stands as Tunisia's largest commercial supplier.

To further strengthen economic ties, Tunisian officials recently met with Chinese representatives in Beijing to discuss expanding cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and academic exchange. Discussions included increasing scholarships for Tunisian students and fostering partnerships between research centers and universities to bolster long-term bilateral relations.
