Tunisia expands international trade through new sector partnerships

Tunisia is implementing several strategic initiatives to bolster its international trade presence and economic sectors. The Center for Export Promotion (CEPEX) and the Confederation of Tunisian Citizen Enterprises (CONECT) are collaborating to align their efforts, leveraging economic networks to open new markets for Tunisian industries, including agri-food, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and fintech.

In the agricultural sector, the Interprofessional Dates Group has launched a promotional program for the 2026-2027 season. This follows a milestone where date export revenues exceeded one billion dinars, with approximately 160,000 tonnes commercialized. The program aims to combat climate change impacts and rising production costs while maintaining market share for Deglet Nour dates.

Additionally, bilateral trade between Tunisia and India shows significant growth potential. The Indian Ambassador to Tunis, Dr. Devyani Uttam Khobragade, noted that trade could double if cooperation expands beyond the current focus on phosphate—which accounts for nearly 50 percent of Tunisian phosphate exports to India—into sectors such as tourism, health, artificial intelligence, and information technology.
