Tunisia hosts 4th International Oud Festival

The 4th International Oud Festival took place in the Kasba district of Tunis from October 16 to 24. Organized by the Tahar Haddad Cultural Club with support from the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, the event brought together musicians from Turkey, Lebanon, and Palestine.

In addition to musical performances, the festival featured scientific meetings, exhibitions, workshops, and a national oud performance competition. A primary focus of the event was addressing the challenges facing the Tunisian oud, including its production, education, and performance, to ensure the instrument's role in the country's cultural identity is preserved for future generations.

Festival Director Siham bin Tumi noted that one of the main objectives is to increase the visibility of the Tunisian oud on the music scene. The program aims to encourage young people to take up the traditional instrument and to maintain the continuity of its manufacturing traditions.
