Tunisia implements heatwave prevention and early warning measures

Tunisia's Ministry of Health has announced a series of measures to combat heatwaves following a working session led by Minister Mustapha Ferjani. A central component of the plan is the implementation of an early warning system based on forecasts from the National Institute of Meteorology (INM).

The strategy focuses on strengthening regional preparedness and improving coordination between health services, civil protection, and other relevant stakeholders. To protect workers exposed to high temperatures and solar radiation, the ministry recommended enhancing occupational medicine measures.

Additional actions include ensuring the readiness of health facilities, updating medical protocols for treating heat-related illnesses, and launching public awareness campaigns. These campaigns will specifically target vulnerable populations, including children and the elderly.
