Tunisia industrial investments rise 18% in early 2026

Tunisia's industrial investments grew by 18% during the first half of 2026, resulting in the creation of approximately 13,000 jobs, according to Salah Zouari, the Minister of Equipment and Housing, who also manages the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy.

Speaking during the 5th COMESA ministerial meeting on industry, Zouari noted that the agri-food, mechanical, and electrotechnical sectors have been instrumental in diversifying national production and increasing economic competitiveness. He highlighted a rise in foreign investments focused on exports, signaling improved attractiveness for international capital and better integration into global value chains.

The minister emphasized innovation as a core pillar of the national strategy, supported by a scientific ecosystem comprising over 680 research units and approximately 25,000 researchers and doctoral students. Additionally, Zouari stressed the importance of regional African cooperation and digitalization to support sustainable growth and strengthen the role of small and medium-sized enterprises.
