Tunisia olive oil exports reach $1.6 billion in record season

Tunisia recorded record olive oil exports during the first nine months of the 2025-2026 season, reaching 368,000 tonnes. This represents a 55.3% increase compared to the 236,900 tonnes exported during the same period of the previous season, according to data from the National Observatory of Agriculture (ONAGRI).

Export revenues rose by 44.4% to 4.61 billion Tunisian dinars (approximately $1.6 billion), up from 3.19 billion dinars in the prior year. While export volumes grew significantly, the rate of revenue growth was lower, indicating a decrease in the average return per kilogram. Extra virgin olive oil accounted for 83.6% of the total volume exported.

A significant portion of the exports remains in bulk form, which constitutes 86% of total quantities. Packaged oil, while making up only 14% of volume, contributed 18.6% of total revenue, highlighting the higher value of processed goods. Tunisia exports to over 70 countries, with the European Union receiving 57.1% of total volumes, led by Spain and Italy. North America accounts for 24% of exports, primarily to the United States and Canada.
