Tunisia pharmacy sector faces drug‑storage warnings and third‑party payment talks

The National Council of Order of Pharmacists of Tunisia (CNOPT) issued a public warning urging citizens to keep medicines in cool, dry places during heat waves, avoid storage in kitchens, bathrooms or cars, and use insulated containers for temperature‑sensitive drugs. The council stressed that improper storage can compromise drug quality, effectiveness and patient safety.

Meanwhile, the Tunisian Pharmacy Union (Spot) announced it will continue applying the third‑party payment agreement with the National Health Insurance Fund (Cnam) while negotiations proceed toward a permanent contract. Spot highlighted the need for stable pharmacy services, streamlined administrative procedures and uninterrupted patient access to medicines, and cited ongoing disputes over delayed payments and alleged irregularities in Cnam’s invoicing system.
