Tunisia reaffirms support for UN initiative to advance Libyan political process
Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Mohamed Ali Nafti, met with Hanna Tetteh, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), to discuss progress on the UN-led political process in Libya.
Nafti reaffirmed Tunisia’s support for a global political settlement that preserves Libya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasized that any solution must be fully Libyan-led, without the exclusion or marginalization of any Libyan parties. Tunisia expressed its readiness to host various initiatives and consultations aimed at achieving this goal under UN patronage.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of the tripartite consultation mechanism involving the foreign ministers of Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt. This framework is intended to unify regional visions and provide a constructive dialogue to support a sustainable Libyan-led solution, ultimately strengthening security and stability in the region.
