Tunisia rejects Israeli actions in Jerusalem at UN General Assembly
Addressing the 81st UN General Assembly, Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti called for an end to violence in Gaza and the West Bank, condemning what he described as acts of genocide against Palestinians.
Nafti expressed strong opposition to Israeli measures intended to alter the historical and legal status of Jerusalem, specifically citing forced displacement, home demolitions, and attacks on holy sites. He warned that attempts to dismantle the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) represent a desperate effort to liquidate the Palestinian cause and extinguish the right of return.
Beyond the Palestinian territories, the minister urged the international community to address conflicts in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Libya, and Yemen. He also advocated for strengthening UN peacekeeping operations and called for a comprehensive approach to irregular migration that prioritizes human rights and addresses root causes such as poverty and inequality.
