Tunisia reviews progress on major public infrastructure projects
The Tunisian government, led by Head of Government Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri, met on October 8, 2026, to review the progress of six major public infrastructure projects. The meeting aimed to accelerate implementation and remove obstacles to support economic development, investment, and job creation.
Key decisions included awarding the contract for the reconstruction of the El Menzah Olympic Stadium to a Chinese company. The Commission also approved contracts for works to protect the Sidi Bou Saïd site against landslides.
Other major projects under review include the extension of the Tunis-Carthage International Airport, the Enfidha deep-water port and logistics zone, the expansion of the Borj El Amri power plant, and the rehabilitation of the Bir Ali Ben Khalifa regional hospital in Sfax. The government emphasized that accelerating these projects is a priority to reduce regional disparities and stimulate national wealth.
