Tunisia revises prices of 300 medicines, prompting private pharmacists' call for transparency

The Central Pharmacy of Tunisia announced a price revision affecting around 300 medicines. The Tunisian Private Pharmacy Owners' Union criticised the decision, saying pharmacists were not consulted and have been excluded from the drug‑purchase commission and the drug observatory for about a year.

The union demanded that any price changes be based on "objective and transparent criteria" and consider the purchasing power of citizens, continuous drug supply and the economic viability of pharmacies. It noted some hikes may stem from a reduction in previously granted subsidies and stressed that while pharmacists must apply the new official prices, they have no role in setting them.
