Tunisia sacks World Cup coach Sabri Lamouchi after 5‑1 loss to Sweden

The Tunisian Football Federation dismissed head coach Sabri Lamouchi following a 5‑1 defeat to Sweden in the opening group match of the World Cup. The move, taken after just one game, is unusual; only a handful of national team coaches have been removed during a tournament. Past examples include Henryk Kasperczak (Tunisia, 1998), Cha Bum‑kun (South Korea, 1998), Carlos Alberto Parreira (Saudi Arabia, 1998) and Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked by Spain just before the 2018 tournament.

Lamouchi, 54, became the latest coach to lose his job amid the competition, highlighting the intense pressure on national team managers to deliver immediate results at the World Cup.
