Tunisia sees industrial growth with new medical factory and agricultural expansion

Tunisia is seeing significant industrial and agricultural expansion through international investment. French group SGH Medical Pharma has inaugurated its first facility outside of France in Mégrine, near Tunis. The 3,000-square-metre factory specializes in high-precision plastic medical devices, consumables, and pharmaceutical packaging, featuring cleanroom environments to ensure sterility and quality standards.

The project involved an initial investment of €1 million and has grown to employ approximately 100 people. SGH Medical Pharma, which has over 40 years of expertise in plastics processing, aims to support the medical and pharmaceutical industries through this new production hub.

In the agricultural sector, Agro Care is expanding its greenhouse operations in Tunisia. The company is adding 20 hectares of greenhouse space this year, bringing its total area in the country toward a planned 160 hectares across its Desert Joy and Hicha Joy projects. To support this growth and reduce reliance on well water, Agro Care plans to open a desalination plant by the end of the year, which will process seawater from the Mediterranean to supply the facilities.
