Tunisia sets 2026-2027 hunting season dates and quotas

The Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries has officially released the regulations, dates, and quotas for the 2026-2027 hunting season. The decree, published in the Journal Officiel de la République Tunisienne, aims to balance hunting activities with biodiversity preservation.

Small game hunting, including species such as wild hares and partridges, is scheduled from October 4, 2026, to December 6, 2026, and is restricted to Sundays and official holidays. Large game hunting, covering wild boar and the African golden wolf, will take place from October 4, 2026, to January 31, 2027, in seventeen northern and central-eastern governorates. In southern and central-western regions, this period is extended until March 21, 2027.

To protect local ecosystems, the ministry has implemented an absolute ban on hunting rare mammals, such as the Barbary stag, gazelles, cheetahs, hyenas, fennecs, white hedgehogs, and monk seals. The regulations also include protections for various birds of prey and storks.
