Tunisia showcases flamenco and fado at Carthage and Hammamet festivals

The Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, the official flamenco company of Spain's Andalusia region, performed its show "Tierra bendita" on 30 July at the International Festival of Carthage. The concert, staged by choreographer Patricia Guerrero, featured 15 dancers and five musicians and was organized with the Spanish embassy, attended by Ambassador Isidro González Afonso and other diplomatic representatives. The performance drew a near‑full house and highlighted Andalusian musical and dance traditions.

At the same time, Portuguese fado singer Mariza appeared at the 60th International Festival of Hammamet, presenting songs from her latest album "Amor". Accompanied by four musicians, she delivered a poetic program that blended Portuguese, English and French lyrics, captivating the audience with a minimalist, intimate staging. Both events attracted large, enthusiastic crowds and underscored Tunisia's role as a hub for international cultural festivals.
