Tunisia signs strategic partnership with GSTC for sustainable tourism

On 2 June 2026, Tunisia’s National Office of Tourism (ONTT) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The signing took place during the national workshop “Sustainable Tunisia | Human First”, chaired by Tourism Minister Soufiane Tekaya and attended by GSTC Executive Director Randy Durband and various public and private stakeholders.

The pact aims to align Tunisia’s tourism policies and programmes with international sustainability standards, build national capacity for assessment, certification and sustainable destination management, modernise the regulatory framework, develop alternative accommodation, encourage responsible investment and improve youth employability. The initiative supports Tunisia’s preparation to host the “Arab Tourism Capital 2027” event and to enhance its competitiveness in the global tourism market.
