Tunisia textile firms exempt from new wage hike under government decree
The Tunisian government issued decree No 68, published on 30 April 2026, mandating salary increases for non‑agricultural sectors governed by collective agreements. The Tunisian Federation of Textile and Apparel (FTTH) clarified that companies in the textile sector that have already applied the sectoral wage hikes agreed in January 2024 are not required to implement an additional increase. Those earlier agreements provided a 6.5% raise effective January 2024, another 6.5% in January 2025, and a cumulative 7% in January 2026. As firms that implemented these increases meet the decree’s Article 4 conditions, they are considered compliant. FTTH emphasized that the arrangement balances workers’ purchasing power with the sector’s competitiveness while maintaining social dialogue.
