Tunisia textile sector reaches 9 billion dinars in exports

Tunisia's textile and apparel sector remains a vital driver of the national economy, contributing significantly to investment, exports, and employment. During an international conference in Tunis focused on building a resilient and competitive textile value chain in the Euro-Mediterranean region, Minister Salah Zouari highlighted the sector's economic impact.

The textile and apparel industry currently ranks second among Tunisia's manufacturing export industries, accounting for approximately 16% of total manufacturing exports. By the end of 2025, sector exports reached 9,069 million dinars, maintaining a coverage rate of 127%. The industry comprises more than 1,400 industrial companies and supports roughly 146,000 jobs.

To maintain competitiveness and meet European market requirements, the government aims to expand into high-value areas such as technical textiles, clean technologies, and digitalization. Planned support mechanisms include industrial upgrading, technological investment assistance, and financial restructuring to modernize equipment and improve productivity.
