Tunisia Tourism Ministry Allocates 8.4 Million Dinars for Beach Clean‑up and Site Improvements
The Tunisian Ministry of Tourism announced an additional 8.425 million dinars to boost cleanliness and infrastructure in tourist zones and beaches. A first tranche of 6.75 million dinars will fund site development and purchase of cleaning equipment, while 1.675 million dinars is earmarked for 20 municipal tourism authorities, covering 60 % of the mechanical beach‑cleaning programme.
The funding comes from the Tourist Zone Protection Fund and was presented by Minister Sofiane Tekaya during a joint monitoring committee meeting. The ministry also highlighted ongoing oversight, noting nearly 4,000 inspections of hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and related facilities since the start of the year, targeting hygiene, safety and service quality.
These measures aim to ensure a smooth summer season, improve public health standards on beaches, and support local municipalities in maintaining tourist circuits.
