Tunisian digital firms target Senegal as industrial ties with Japan strengthen
Tunisian digital companies are targeting the Senegalese market through the Tunisia-Senegal Digital Meetings, scheduled to take place in Dakar from December 15 to 19, 2026, as part of Tunisia Tech Week. Organized by the Tunisian Export Promotion Center (CEPEX) with support from the Tunisian Embassy in Senegal, the initiative aims to connect Tunisian IT startups and firms with Senegalese decision-makers. Key sectors include cybersecurity, digital public services, fintech, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital health.
This expansion coincides with Senegal’s ‘New Deal Technologique 2025-2034,’ a program valued at approximately 1.7 billion USD focused on digitizing public services and strengthening digital sovereignty. Senegal currently maintains a 61% internet penetration rate and significant demand for digitalization across its banking, insurance, and telecommunications sectors.
In a separate industrial development, the Japanese Ambassador to Tunisia, Saito Jun, visited the Industries Mécaniques Maghrébines (IMM) Isuzu vehicle production site in Kairouan. The visit highlighted the long-standing economic partnership between Japan and Tunisia, specifically regarding the assembly of Isuzu utility vehicles and trucks, which supports local employment and the Tunisian automotive sector.
