Tunisian man's remains mistakenly flown to Spain instead of Tunisia
The remains of a 75-year-old Tunisian man, Abdallah, were mistakenly transported to Malaga, Spain, instead of being repatriated to Tunisia for burial. The incident occurred following his death in Meaux, France, on October 9, 2026.
Originally, his son had arranged for the coffin to be transported via a Tunisair flight from Paris-Orly to Tunis on October 12. However, delays in a previous flight and restrictions regarding night operations at Orly airport disrupted the logistics. Consequently, the coffin was mistakenly loaded onto a Vueling flight destined for Malaga the following morning.
The error forced the family to postpone funeral services in the deceased's home village near Monastir, where approximately 3,000 people were expected to attend. After the mistake was discovered, the remains were returned to Orly airport on October 13 before being successfully transferred to Tunisia.
