Tunisian theatre wins awards at Cairo experimental festival

Tunisian theatre achieved notable success at the 33rd Cairo International Festival for Experimental Theatre (CIFET). The production ‘La Moda – Show off’ secured two major awards in the official competition.

Taher Issa Ben Larbi was named best director, while actor Amine Dridi shared the best actor award with Russia’s Alexey Titkov. The play ‘Show off’ offers a critique of the fashion industry, focusing on profit motives and the cult of appearance.

Tunisian presence at the festival extended to the jury and cultural programs. Mohamed Mounir Argui, former director of the Carthage Theatre Days, served on the official competition jury, and Hamadi Louhaibi participated in a cultural colloquium discussing the evolution of the spectator in experimental theatre.
