Tunisia's Finance Committee to hear from Minister and utility CEOs

The Finance and Budget Committee of Tunisia’s Assembly of the Representatives of the People has scheduled a series of hearings to address delays in budget reporting and critical public service issues.

Committee members will hear from the Chief Executive Officer of the Tunisian Electricity and Gas Company (STEG) regarding the national energy situation, energy costs, and electricity outages. Additionally, the CEO of the National Office for Water Exploitation and Distribution (SONEDE) will be questioned about water supply interruptions and measures to ensure service continuity.

The Minister of Finance is also set to be audited to explain delays in transmitting reports and data concerning the execution of the state budget for the first half of 2026. The committee seeks to clarify the hypotheses used for the 2027 draft Finance Bill, the possibility of a supplementary budget due to oil price volatility, and the progress of regulatory texts for the 2026 Finance Act.
