Tunisia's Nabeul Holds 61% of National Potato Stock

Tunisia's Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, inspected the potato stock‑regulating programme in the governorate of Nabeul. The regulator, intended for the 2026 campaign, totals 12,392 tonnes nationwide, with 7,516 tonnes – about 61 % – stored in Nabeul across ten of the 21 designated cold‑storage centres.

The stock is split between public facilities managed by the Groupement interprofessionnel des légumes (3,338 tonnes) and private operators under storage‑commercialisation contracts (9,054 tonnes). The minister highlighted the programme's role in guaranteeing a stable market supply, stabilising prices and strengthening national seed production to reduce reliance on imports and bolster food sovereignty.
