Infrastructure projects cause transport disruptions in Germany and Austria

Various regions in Germany and Austria are experiencing significant transport disruptions due to extensive infrastructure maintenance and construction projects.

In Germany, Deutsche Bahn has announced major works on the Berlin–Hamburg line, with restricted track capacity and speed limits expected through late September. Berlin is also facing multiple disruptions, including night-time closures on the A100, A111, A113, and A103 motorways, as well as long-term S-Bahn closures between Friedrichstraße and Tiergarten scheduled for 2027. Other regional impacts include a two-year closure of the Mulde bridge near Pouch on the B100 and tram service changes in Halle.

In Austria, the Neutor tunnel in Salzburg is completely closed to motor vehicles and buses until March 2027, forcing significant detours for local traffic and public transport. Additionally, Bremen is managing economic challenges at its airport following the cessation of Lufthansa flights to Frankfurt, while also utilizing federal funds for local infrastructure improvements.
