Tupolev CEO claims Tu-160M bomber superiority amid missile loading reports

Yury Abrosimov, CEO of Tupolev, stated that the Russian Tu-160 strategic bomber remains superior to its American counterparts. The modernized Tu-160M version is built on a new digital platform, with 80% of its systems and equipment updated, including overhauled avionics, flight controls, weaponry, navigation, and engines.

The Tu-160M production program was initiated by President Vladimir Putin. Recent efforts include the full digitalization of design documents, the restoration of vacuum welding technology for titanium components, and the restart of airframe assembly. A new consortium involving major industrial enterprises under the state corporation Rostec has been established to support these efforts.

Satellite imagery from Western sources has captured the loading of Kh-101 missiles onto Tu-160M and Tu-95MS strategic bombers at the Engels air base in the Saratov region. Military experts suggest these preparations may indicate upcoming long-range strikes against targets in Ukraine. Additionally, Russia has constructed specialized hangars to protect these bombers and conceal them from satellite surveillance.
