Turandot centenary marked by Venice exhibition and Verona Arena performances in Italy

In Venice, the Palazzo Franchetti hosts “Turandot Rivisitata”, an exhibition curated by the Parasol Unit Foundation that brings together eleven artists from Central Asia. The works reinterpret Puccini’s Turandot through video, sculpture, installation and textile, linking the opera’s mythic roots to contemporary issues in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. The show highlights the region’s historical ties to the Silk Road and its present‑day conflicts and identities.

Meanwhile, Verona’s Arena celebrates the same centenary with a staged production of Turandot that builds on Franco Zeffirelli’s 2010 design. Conductor Andrea Battistoni leads a large chorus and orchestra, delivering a performance praised for its orchestral clarity and dramatic impact. Both events underscore the lasting cultural influence of Giacomo Puccini’s work across visual and performing arts.
