Turbulence data identifies high-risk flight routes and tips for managing flight anxiety

Data from the website Turbli identifies the world's most turbulent flight routes and highlights specific European corridors prone to instability. Globally, the Mendoza (Mdz) to Santiago (Scl) route leads with an average of 22,983 edr, followed by Xining (Xnn) to Yinchuan (Inc) and Chengdu (Tfu) to Xining (Xnn).

In Europe, several routes involving Nice and Milan appear frequently in the top ten, including Nice–Geneva, Nice–Marseille, and Milan–Lyon. Experts note that turbulence is often driven by jet streams and mountainous terrain.

To address the 25-30% of adults suffering from flight anxiety, clinical platform Phobia Aero suggests psychological and physical techniques. These include visualizing atmospheric pressure as a dense jelly to rationalize turbulence, lifting feet from the floor during takeoff to reduce vibration sensations, and performing brief muscle contractions to aid relaxation.
