Turgut Dursun funeral held after fatal Ayazağa flash flood

A funeral ceremony was held for 66-year-old Turgut Dursun, who died during a flash flood in the Ayazağa district of Istanbul. His body was recovered from the Ayazağa Stream near bridge supports three days after heavy rainfall caused the flooding.

The ceremony took place at the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque and was attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Istanbul Police Chief Selami Yıldız, and the deceased's relatives. Following the funeral prayer, Dursun was laid to rest at the Yeni Ayazağa Cemetery.

Family members recounted the tragic circumstances, stating that Dursun had left his home to collect his daughter and grandchild when he was caught in the flood while driving. According to his niece, Dursun had contacted his wife via phone, reporting that his vehicle was filling with floodwater before he attempted to escape the car and was swept away.
