Turgut Özal Karakucak Wrestling tournament concludes in Malatya
The 21st International Turgut Özal Karakucak Wrestling tournament has concluded in Malatya, Turkey. Hosted by Yeşilyurt Municipality with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Turkey Traditional Wrestling Federation, the event drew significant local interest.
A total of 345 wrestlers competed in the matches held near the Çilesiz Aksa Mosque. Anıl Berkay Kılıçsallayan secured the title of head wrestler (başpehlivan) during the competition.
Yeşilyurt Mayor Prof. Dr. İlhan Geçit emphasized that the tournament, held in memory of the late 8th President Turgut Özal, serves to preserve cultural and sporting values for future generations. The event was attended by various local officials, including members of parliament and representatives from the Turkey Traditional Wrestling Federation.
