Turi to Polignano a Mare mule parade to celebrate local tradition

The Associazione Mule del Carro di Sant’Oronzo will hold its traditional parade from Turi to Polignano a Mare on Sunday, October 4. This event commemorates a historical peasant tradition where mules were taken to the sea for rest following the grain threshing season.

The procession will travel through Conversano before arriving at the historic center of Polignano a Mare. The route includes a stop at the statue of Domenico Modugno in Largo Gelso for a solemn blessing of the mules, concluding at the Abbey of San Vito.
