Turin and Bresso delay heating season due to mild weather

Municipalities in the Turin area are adjusting heating schedules due to unseasonably mild weather. In Turin, the mayor has issued an ordinance postponing the start of the heating season to October 19, 2026. The decision follows forecasts showing maximum temperatures around or above 20°C, which is higher than the seasonal average of 18°C.

Under the new regulations in Turin, heating systems may operate for a maximum of 13 hours daily between 5:00 and 23:00, from October 19, 2026, to April 15, 2027. Temperature limits are set at 19°C for residential buildings and 18°C for industrial and artisanal sites, both with a 2-degree tolerance. Sensitive facilities, such as hospitals, schools, and care homes, are exempt from these restrictions.

In Bresso, while no formal ban has been issued, the local administration is inviting citizens, businesses, and condominium administrators to delay activating heating systems. The municipality has also postponed heating in its own buildings to reduce unnecessary energy consumption and costs. Officials warned against unofficial communications regarding heating ordinances, stating that only formal acts through institutional channels are valid.
