Turin inaugurates new temporary housing and immigration facilities

Turin has inaugurated two new facilities aimed at improving social services and administrative efficiency for vulnerable populations and immigrants.

TOHOUSING+, a temporary housing project, has opened at the former Dora Vanchiglia police station on Corso Farini. Developed through a collaboration between the City of Turin and the Quore APS Association, the project received 710,000 euros in funding from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Mission 5). The facility follows the ‘Housing First’ model, providing residential spaces and support services to foster autonomy for individuals in socio-residential vulnerability, with a specific focus on youth and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Additionally, a new immigration office has opened at the Santo Volto complex on Via Val della Torre. This move, facilitated by a free-use agreement between the local curia and the prefecture, aims to centralize three previously scattered service desks into a single hub. The consolidation is intended to reduce outdoor queues and waiting times for residents seeking information on residence permits and other immigration-related documentation.
