Turin launches VALE cultural and urban regeneration project

Turin is launching the VALE project, a major urban regeneration initiative centered around Valentino Park. The project aims to create an integrated cultural and educational hub by connecting the park, the Teatro Nuovo, the Borgo Medievale, the Botanical Garden, and university campuses.

Key components include a new Central Library located in the former Torino Esposizioni, which is expected to feature the largest reading room in Europe. The project is supported by significant funding, including over 100 million euros from the PNC-PNRR for the library, 50 million euros from the Politecnico di Torino for campus expansion, and substantial contributions from Fondazione CRT and Compagnia di San Paolo.

Additionally, Turin will host the Biennale della Prossimità from October 1 to 3, 2026. This biennial event focuses on deep democracy and will feature various panels on topics such as urban security, digital culture, and social sustainability. A specific panel titled ‘Cultura prossima’ will address artificial intelligence, automation, and local cultural generation.
