Turin Mayor Lo Russo's alliance proposal rejected by M5S

Turin Mayor Stefano Lo Russo has proposed a ‘campo largo’ (broad field) alliance with the Movimento 5 Stelle (M5S) ahead of the 2027 municipal elections to counter the political right. During the Festa dell’Unità, Lo Russo suggested that past frictions between the Democratic Party (PD) and M5S must be overcome to build a unified front.

However, local M5S coordinators Sarah Disabato and Alberto Unia have rejected the proposal. They stated that their vision for the city's development does not align with the Mayor's and characterized his recent overtures as late and unreliable. The disagreement highlights ongoing tensions in Turin, where the two parties have historically clashed over local issues such as the TAV high-speed rail project.
