Turkey 5G subscriber count reaches 47.6 million
Turkey's 5G subscriber base reached 47,661,726 by the end of September, according to Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure. Since the technology was first deployed on mobile networks in April 2026, the number of users has grown significantly from an initial 21 million.
The minister noted that the 5G auction held last year involving three operators resulted in 3.534 billion dollars, exceeding expectations. The government aims to gradually expand 5G services to every part of the country within the next two years.
Uraloğlu emphasized that 5G technology, which offers higher device connection capacity and ultra-low latency compared to 4.5G, is central to Turkey's digital transformation. The infrastructure is expected to support advancements in smart factories, autonomous robots, smart road systems, energy management, and various sectors including health, industry, and agriculture.
