Turkey advances educational infrastructure through school renovations and reconstruction

Educational infrastructure in Turkey is seeing significant developments through both historical renovations and post-disaster reconstruction.

In Konya, the Konya İmam Hatip Lisesi, one of Turkey’s first Imam Hatip schools, has reopened following a complete renovation of its campus. The facility, which has a 75-year history dating back to 1951, now integrates Seljuk architecture with modern smart building technologies. The new academic year began with religious ceremonies and prayers.

In Hatay, efforts to restore the educational landscape following major earthquakes continue. Governor Mustafa Masatlı reported that 254 new schools have been completed to replace those destroyed or damaged. Additionally, 944 schools have undergone maintenance and repair, while 145 schools were reinforced. These efforts aim to increase the city's total classroom capacity from 14,700 to over 18,000 once ongoing construction on 47 remaining sites is finalized.
