Turkey agricultural drone sector sees rising demand and high wages

The Turkish agricultural sector is undergoing a significant technological transformation as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) replace traditional methods for tasks such as land scanning, pest control, fertilization, and yield analysis. These drones allow operations that previously took days with tractors to be completed in hours, significantly reducing labor, fuel, and water usage. Specifically, the technology can reduce water consumption by up to 90% and pesticide use by 30% through precision application.

This shift has created a high demand for specialized drone operators, with monthly earnings reaching between 120,000 TL and 250,000 TL. However, the industry is facing a critical shortage of qualified personnel. There is a notable lack of operators who possess both the necessary agricultural certifications and the required documentation from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, leading to a bottleneck in service availability during peak planting and maintenance periods.
